Change in the summit of the Istituto Storico Artistico Orvietano: the board of directors nominating Alberto Satolli president of the cultural sodality.
 

Honorary President: Torquato Terracina, Architect
Torquato Terracina was born in Orvieto on July 31, 1920. He received his degree in architecture from the University “La Sapienza” in Rome, and then began his career as architect, maintaining and developing contacts in Umbria and Lazio. Founding member of the Istituto Storico Artistico Orvietano in 1944, he became building supervisor for the Opera del Duomo, architect of the Cathedral. The following were undertaken in his term: restoration of the roof of the apse, of the mosaics on the facade, renovation of the electrical layout, of the lighting system, up to the conclusion of the lengthy vicissitudes of Emilio Greco's bronze doors in the early 1970s. Among his many offices: councilor of the Order of Architects in Umbria, critic councilor of the Banca d'Italia of Viterbo, discount commissary of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena, president of the small and medium industries of the Province of Viterbo, vice president of the Urcel of Lazio. Up to 2009 he was president of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Orvieto, and he was the first president of the Advisory Board of the Fondazioni Casse di Risparmio dell'Umbria (Perugia, Terni, Foligno, Città di Castello, Spoleto, Orvieto), distinguishing himself in the enlightened management of the resources destined for the development and valorization of the territory, in particular with regards to the cultural sectors.

Architect Alberto Satolli is the new President of ISAO.

Vice President: Alessandra Cannistrà
Born in 1964, she received her degree in Letters from the University “La Sapienza” in Rome, specializing in Archaeology and Art History at the University in Siena. For over 10 years she has been collaborating with the Superintendency B.A.P.S.A.E. of Umbria in many projects. In the 1990s she was town councilor for culture and public education for the town of Fabro. Docent at the LUMSA and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, she currently works as specialized advisor for the Opera del Duomo in Orvieto. She has published studies on sixteenth- and nineteenth-century painting in Umbria.

Francesco M. Della Ciana was born in 1961. He received his degree in letters from the University “La Sapienza” in Rome, with a masters in Multimedia Library Management from the University of Tuscia. Teacher and journalist, he became president of ISAO in 1995, and subsequently, in 1998, vice president and editor in chief. He founded and was secretary of the Orvieto section of the European Federalist Movement. He was a councilor of the Italian Red Cross in Orvieto, member of the Press and Propaganda committee for the seventh centennial celebrations of the cathedral of Orvieto 1290-1990. He is consul of the Touring Club Italiano. President of the ISAO from 2007 to 2009 until he was nominated member of the board of directors of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Orvieto. In addition to his commitments in the fields of education and journalism, he has written the novel “La rupe incantata,” published by Edimond, which won the International Literary Award “Cilento 2004”.

Il sodalizio culturale orvietano opera da 66 anni con attività di ricerca storica, cicli di conferenze, giornate di studio, mostre e concerti. Di particolar rilievo la produzione editoriale, che comprende il Bollettino, inviato a Biblioteche, Università ed Archivi di tutto il mondo, i Quaderni, caratterizzati soprattutto da significativi impianti iconografici, Lettera Orvietana, il quadrimestrale d’informazione culturale redatto da giovani ricercatori.

Presidente uscente è il Prof. Franco Moretti, succeduto lo scorso anno al Prof. Francesco M. Della Ciana, chiamato alla carica di Consigliere di Amministrazione della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Orvieto.
